Basic Process

A slide (Shuttle) carries at least one device, typically two; perhaps a Vial Nest and a Cap Post. The Shuttle alternates positions out the right and left hand side of the machine. When the right side is out, the left device is inside the machine (nothing protrudes on the left), and when the left side is out, the right device is inside the machine.

Either side can take either device. The examples used throughout our literature can be reversed to accommodate the customer's layout plans.

During these alternating cycles, a single robot or operator can in one cycle load a vial, and during the next cycle load a cap. While loading is being performed, work inside the machine is also being performed.

For all the models, each device can be a vial nest, or one of the positions can have nothing.

These -5 machines are rated for 1 to 5 inch-pounds [0,11 to 0,56 Nm] of adjustable application torque, and can accommodate vials up to 0.63 inch [16 mm] diameter 2.12 inch [54 mm] tall. All machines are designed for clockwise screw capping. Reverse threading is optionally available. The exterior of caps and vials must be clean for the gripper systems to effectively transmit the necessary torque. Vials with labels must be very tight to the vial, and of a material and ink suitable for the grippers.

These machines eliminate all risk of hand/wrist injury due to twisting and torque reaction. They are inherently safe for operators, and ergonomically designed for ease of use.

Model Selections

EP-314-5-U Uncapping - Dedicated uncapper. Approximately 8 in-lb [0,9 Nm] uncap torque, two nests possible with center discharge option. Very fast, over 1,000 uncap cycles per hour.

EP-314-5-T Torque - Dedicated torque application. Caps are pre-assembled to vials and can be loose. Very accurate and repeatable six-sigma torque. Two nests possible. Very fast, over 1,000 cap torques per hour under ideal conditions.

EP-314-5-C Capping - Dedicated capping application. Requires a cap post. Automatically assembles the cap to the vial. Very accurate six-sigma torque. A single operator can cap about 600 vials per hour.

EP-314-5-A All of the Above - This machine can Uncap, Torque, or Cap. The super accurate magnetic clutch contains a special one-way bearing which provides the maximum possible torque to Uncap, yet maintains the accurate six-sigma torque during Capping operations.

EP-314-5-S Special - These machines are outfitted with nonstandard features to achieve a special task. Chiefly a longer shuttle to hold multiple Vial Nests, Cap Posts, auto unload stops, and position the vials under multiple stations.
